About Me

Heya! My name is Jason Stiles and I'm a web application developer and user-interface designer based in Michigan.  I am currently working at a software development company in the Ann Arbor, MI area. Previously, I was working with a law firm in the greater Detroit area developing a very sophisticated case management system called PALMS.  In my spare time, I'm typically doing any of the following: spending time with my family (I have two energetic kids, a beautiful girlfriend, and a 2 year old golden retriever), playing video games, or working on personal projects like Knots.

I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from Michigan Technological University in May of 2007.  During my last two years at Michigan Tech, I joined the Blue Marble Security Enterprise program which  provides students with real world experience.  I started off as a Project Engineer developing a User Interface in Java for interacting with remote sensing devices.  I moved on to become the Project Manager and led a team of six students to take the project even further.  In my last year at Michigan Tech, I joined up with Gridalogy - a software development firm working on a grid computing application in Java.  At Gridalogy, I spent time working on the application's graphical user interface and developed a GUI architecture called "The Stage".

I specialize in User-Interface design and development.  I create functional, aesthetic and user-friendly web applications that adhere to the latest web standards.  I am also currently available for new projects.

About this Website

This website serves as the digital extension to me!  It was originally created to present an online portfolio of my knowledge, skills and abilities to complement my resume when looking for jobs after college.  Now, it is evolving into a place I can share my thoughts and an avenue for companies, friends and family to learn more about me.  I have recently started working on a suite of web applications that I plan to show off on this website as part of my portfolio.

This site is powered by the Knots Content Management System - a system I've created and have been working on for a few years now in my spare time.  Knots is a flexible, yet powerful content management system.  I have big plans for Knots and hope to realize them all soon, so keep checking back!
