Knots Re-Designed and Re-Invented
Posted on: 07/30/2008 at 20:30:09 By: Jason Stiles

This week I will be spending much of my free time evaluating Knots, the Content Management System I've been working on since January 2008.  There are three main requirements that I want the system to meet: it must be unique, easy to use, and powerful.  Not an easy thing to do, but I'm totally confident in my abilities to make it happen.

Already Knots is far superior than many other Content Management Systems that are out there.  Trust me, I've test-driven several of them and in my honest opinion none of them can compare to the power of Knots.  I will say that I'm ranking Joomla! pretty high on my competition, but I'm confident that Knots will be superior when it's ready for debut.

The next major version of Knots will be made much more interactive.  I'll be including AJAX functionality absolutely everywhere I can fit it.  AJAX allows parts of the web page (or even all of it, if desired) to change without the page having to reload.  It makes content accessible much faster than by loading the same page through the browser.  The Knots JavaScript Framework includes an easy way to handle AJAX implementation already, but I'll be sprucing it up along with the rest of the framework to given even more functionality than before.

I'm tellin' ya, Knots is on its way to being one of the best (maybe THE best) Content Management System on the web!

So as I stated a few blog posts ago about the bird that pooped on my head on Ellis Island, here is that picture (click the image to enlarge):

Those seagulls have really good aim!

I've put up pictures of my Timesquare NY trip as well as pictures of my cat Ringo!  Just click on the "About Me" button at the top and you'll see the Photo Albums on the right.  By the way, Picasa Web Albums is kewl, you should look into putting your own photos on there!

NYC Days 4 and 5
Posted on: 06/23/2008 at 16:47:33 By: Jason Stiles

I'm finally back home from a truly awesome vacation in Timesquare New York, here's what happened on days 4 and 5.  I promise I will put up some pictures of the vacation very soon!

Day 4

The morning started out late because we were all tired from the Louis CK comedy show at Caroline's on Broadway.  The comedy show was pretty good, three comedians performed: Colin, Keith Robinson, and of course Louis CK.  I thought Colin was actually funnier than the other two including the big performer, but that's just me.

So we ate lunch at the Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant.  I had a burger of some kind, fries, and a strawberry lemonade.  The lemonade was not nearly as good as the one I got from Bubby's Pie company.  But it was good food and a unique place.  We had to eat kind of quickly because we had to get to our Broadway show: Last Awakening.  It was a musical and it was extraordinary!  This show made me start thinking about getting into acting again!  It ran around 2 hours I think including an intermission.  The seats in the theatre weren't all that great, comfy, but not good at ALL for stretching.  My body was sore after the show, but it was worth it because the show was excellent.

After the show we went to Bloomingdale's and specifically the Men's store which has a bunch of Calvin Klein stuff in it.  Everything...was REALLY expensive!  All I wanted was a nice black overshirt and a decent white undershirt and a black tie... I ended up going to the Levi's store in Timesquare and got some nice jeans and a black overshirt.  We ate dinner at mexican restaurant close to the hotel (I can't remember the name).  Afterwards we relaxed and eventually got ready for Pachas Nightclub for some fun.

Pacha's was REALLY LOUD.  The bass in that building was powerful.  I felt like every beat I was moving inches over the floor like I was being lifted up and moved.  It cost $40 to get into the club and $5 for each bottle of water (we ended up having 3 each).  I didn't drink anything because I just really hate the taste of alcohol.  On the dancer floor there was hardly any room to move or dance because there was so many people.  The music that was played had a really repetitive beat and in my opinion really ruined the club experience that night.  We danced with a few girls and saw some strange things, but I'm going to keep this post G-rated!

We got back to the hotel around 2 in the morning, but went back out to take some good night pictures of Timesquare - well worth it.

Day 5

Sunday saw some shopping at Hershey's, M&Ms World, and some local shops for souvenirs and shirts for the family and some friends.

The next part really sucks because we had to leave for our flight back to Detroit.  Our flight kept getting delayed and we ended up departing about 4 hours later than expected which got us to Detroit around 11:15pm.  I didn't get home until around 2am because claiming our luggage made us wait almost another hour.

All in All

A terrific trip.  I was really sad to leave and I hope that I'll go back again someday.  I recommend a visit to Timesquare for all of you!
